It's become
clear over the past few months of using Mint to
track my stats that one of the most popular sections on this
site is the Desktops. I wouldn't
go so far as to say that I ignore it, but I think the "contact"
page gets more updates. Lets change that, eh?
Living in New York City, I love to take photos
of interesting (or not) things that I find. I figured
I'd format a handful of them to be desktops. Now, I am NOT a
photographer, but I try the best I can.
Jump on over to the Desktops
section and pick
up 11 new photo desktop pictures.

Did you think I would allow the holidays
to go by without giving everyone a gift? Ha- of course not!
Why don't you go over to our icon section and download our
latest selection: "Signs
2"? It's a follow-up to my really old set, "Signs".
The 20 icons in this version are shinier and more intense than
EVER!
Also, don't forget to check out MacMonkies this week- They're
hosting an exclusive Christmas-y desktop from us!
Happy holidays!

First off, welcome to the brand new Digital Vision
Graphics!
A few weeks ago I found myself lamenting over
the old
green design. Don't get me wrong, it's served me well;
but it wasn't representative of the work I've been doing lately.
Especially in the typography area. You know you're in trouble
when most amateur blogs have better text treatments than your "design" site.
As a result of all the self-loathing, I wanted
to make a new design. I had a few requirements for the new site:
It had to have "better" type. It had to be lighter-weight (bandwidth-wise).
It had to be easier on the eyes and it had to be easier to use.
To solve the type issue, I've decided to dip my toe into CSS
a little. HTML, and programming in general are not my strong
points at all- so this is a scary thing for me. But thanks to
(Adobe) Dreamweaver, I was able to pull it off.
Next
was the design, itself. The old site was the result of designing
in Illustrator and Photoshop, and then creating slices and playing
around with the resulting HTML in Dreamweaver. This, obviously,
creates a really heavy site, made of only images- It's an easy
way to over-design something too. This new site started off the
same way- I built a concept in Illustrator and sent that around
to a handful of friends here at school for critique- a few revisions
later and I had what I wanted.
I then went directly into Dreamweaver
and made sure I didn't allow myself to take too many shortcuts-
As a result most of the site is made with tables. I know it's
not the biggest technical achievement however for myself it is
a jump. On the right side there, you'll see a DVG:BLG feed, which
isn't perfect, I find it loads successfully about 70% of the
time. If someone knows a better way of doing that, let
me know.
There were a few changes in the final site design
from the original concept- 50% of these changes were conscious
design decisions and the other 50% were technical shortcomings
on my part with HTML. Overall, I'm personally REALLY happy with
the result- and since this is primarily a personal site, that's
all that matters.
Several people have said that they thought
the old site had more "personality" and
I'm inclined to agree, but it really didn't represent my design
style (though, I love green) or my personality. This new site
is much more "me".
Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys the new site!
Take a browse around: Everything you see here has been built
from scratch in the past week or so, nothing except the downloadables have
been carried over from the old site so there could be some bugs.
Feel free to drop
me a line.

Today DV Graphics is proud to announce a brand
new “Iconize Me!” service. For the past three years,
Iconize Me! has been the number-one destination on the internet
for digital caricatures. It's a turn-around
from the previous version, yet it still embodies everything that
DVG is about.
Previously when placing orders, customers picked different packages
that differentiated what file formats and resolutions their caricature
was delivered in. Starting today, customers simply select their
artists and we take it from there. No longer do people need to
struggle with the boring choices of what format and resolution
they want (All orders now included the full-vector PDFs, as well
as JPEGs, GIFs, Icons and more). Simply browse the site, decide
which artist you want, and order! For more information, visit Iconize Me.com
